Supplier diversity

ExxonMobil recognizes diverse suppliers that are 51% owned, managed, and by one or more persons of ethnic minorities, women, people with disabilities, U.S. military veterans, LGBTQ, and small business according to the U.S. Small Business Administration in the U.S.  Currently outside of the U.S., we recognize woman owned businesses and Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Certification

Certification is when a diverse-owned company employs a third party certification organization to validate their diversity category and ownership status. Certification is a best practice in the realm of supplier diversity and can be required when participating in other companies’ supplier diversity programs. In addition to diversity certification, registering with the U.S. federal government as a small business is potentially valuable as well. Even if you do not wish to seek direct government opportunities, the Small Business Administration (SBA) categories (Small, HUB, WOSB, etc.) are of importance to your customers who have contracts with the U.S. federal government, which requires a small business subcontracting plan.
